Abstract

The use of polyimide/TEFLON* laminates reduces the permeation coefficient, the solubility coefficient, and the concentration of water, compared to an equal thickness of polyimide alone. For example, a comparison of 2-mil KAPTON* 200H (polyimide), with a laminate comprising a 1-mil layer of KAPTON F011 with a 1-mil layer of TEFLON, showed that, at 50 degrees C, the diffusion coefficient remained unchanged, while the permeation coefficient, the solubility coefficient and the water concentration of the laminate all decreased by 85%. * Trademarks of E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company
