Abstract

Viologen phosphate is used in electrochromic displays with silver electrodes and is synthesized by ion-exchange. The newly synthesized material contains, due to incomplete ion-exchange and impurities in other chemicals used in the synthesis, halides which react unfavorably with the electrodes.
