Conventional methods of feeding fanfold or continuous form documents use pin feed or tractor feed mechanisms to both transport and align documents. When more than one type of paper is handled in a single machine, such as fanfold paper with singly inserted sheets, on a first writing line basis, or auto sheet feeding, a cost advantage can be achieved by using a friction feed drive for all of the documents handled in the machine. Illustrated is a friction feed document device.
