The figure illustrates a solution to the problem of providing low or high quantity part requirements where a given customer wishes to have specific nomenclature or custom indicia on a key cap for a data entry machine or the like. A problem associated with plastic keybuttons is that, as with any plastic component which undergoes direct contact with operators' hands, wear, corrosion and dirt buildup may lead to an eventual obscuring or removal of the character indicia. For specific user requirements, individually customized legends or indicia are often requested. Clear plastic key caps are often utilized under which suitable indicia on a paper label or the like may be placed, or the indicia may be printed on the key top or on the underside of the cap, as desired. The clear plastic cap protects the indicia.
