Thin films of certain tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) polymers are useful as potential optical display device materials by virtue of the reversible color changes which result when these films are electrochemically oxidized and reduced. The experimental findings of mixed valence optical absorptions, electrical conductivity and rapid discharge from the colored reduced state of these films suggested another application of these films, i.e., the use of polymeric donor solids as thin film batteries.
