A low-cost leaf spring arrangement is shown which provides spring tension on a pair of rollers between which a ribbon web is extended. The object is to retain the ribbon between the flanges of the respective pair of rollers when the ribbon or web is not under any drive tension. The key feature of the spring configuration is the spring's ability to pivot about a point formed in the housing for the rollers about half way between the rollers.
