It is generally desirable to be able to preserve the order of data entered into a magnetic bubble domain memory. This is easily achieved in a bubble storage chip using gapped propagation elements, but is difficult to achieve in a storage chip using ion-implanted contiguous disk devices. The problem is especially apparent in such a bubble domain chip which is organized into a major/minor loop organization using separate read and write major propagation paths.
