The present structure relates to displays which vibrate a single line of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) while selectively turning such LEDs on and off during the vibration to produce a multiple line character display out of a single line of LEDs. The article of O.D. Johnson and E.R. Williams, Jr. entitled "Drive for Vibrating LED Display" appearing in the IBM Technical Disclosure Bulletin 21, 4768-4770 (May 1979), describes a structure in which the line of vibrating LEDs is cantilevered on a leaf spring which is counterbalanced by a second leaf spring on which, it is indicated, a second row of LEDs may be optionally mounted.
