Where a separate motor drive not mechanically connected to the machine process is used for opening and closing the fuser rolls of a hot roll fuser, a problem develops in controlling the time of closure unless the rest position of the drive and the motor speed are carefully controlled. This article presents an inexpensive solution for controlling closure without sensing the rest position of the drive or controlling motor speed.
