Abstract

Single-pin, auto-guided probe algorithms (real-time diagnosis) detect and diagnose a failure to a terminal net. It is assumed that an initial failure detected at the primary outputs of a printed circuit board (PCB) undergoing test is associated with the terminal net. The possible faults associated with the terminal net are open net, shorted net, faulty driver subassembly feeding the terminal net, or faulty sink subassembly on the terminal net. The single-pin probe algorithms have difficulty detecting and diagnosing a shorted net fault.
