Certain data processing systems which utilize native channels, a use wherein the channel utilizes the CPU data flow to execute channel microcode, can be delayed or disrupted by user programs that contain control commands chained to NO OP commands. In such instances, the channel microcode, which runs on the CPU data flow, simply ends up in an endless loop which is not detected. This problem would have serious impact on users who employ such processing systems to monitor life-support systems, burglar and fire alarms, process controls or vital communications networks.
