The proposed pulse-powered sense latch operates at a very low standby power and achieves its maximum speed during chip selection. Using a current-controlled PNP switching transistor, the power supply voltage can vary within a wide range. The basic circuit concept for current control can be used on a general scale to reduce the power consumption of highly integrated bipolar stores. It can be employed, for example, for the pulse power operation of a great many peripheral and support circuits, such as true/complement generators and decoders.
