When power is applied to a microprocessor, or when a reset occurs. hardware in the processor forces the instruction counter to a predetermined value, e.g., FFPD. It is usual to provide s branch instruction at this predetermined location to cause the microprocessor to branch to initialization microcode, which may then occupy as much storage as is required without addressing conflict.
