Ridge 11 is added to the platen roll side of transparent card guide 13. Hole
15 allows the print element to impact the paper. The card guide is mounted on a
carrier (not shown) which also mounts the print element for relative motion with
respect to the paper. Ridge 11 wipes air bubbles accumulated in the carbon pack
as the carrier is advanced toward the right side of the machine during typing.
After the paper pack has been wiped by the card holder to conform to the platen,
it will be held in place by the paper bail rollers of the typewriter.
