High reliability systems employ redundant parts, such as redundant power suplies, to insure that failures will not interrupt the critical service performed by the system. Power supplies are available having a built-in test bit, as shown in Fig. 1, which outputs a relatively high logic voltage value when the power supply is in good operational condition and which outputs a relatively low logic voltage value when the power supply is in a faulty condition. Where there are several redundant power supplies, monitoring logic can be provided to accept these test bit signals for monitoring purposes.
