A ferroresonant transformer acts as a line voltage stabilizer and is essentially an "open loop" regulator, since it basically has no load regulating capability. The output voltage from the transformer varies with the output current and the associated distributed impedances. Therefore, the ferro-resonant transformer does not have the ability of regulating the output voltage over a wide range of load currents.
