Josephson Read Only Memory Personalization

This article relates to the personalization of Josephson read-only memories by the use of a second groundplane above the interferometers of an array of memory cells. Identical two-junction interferometer memory cells can be fabricated up to the M4A (control line metallization) and the 14A (control line insulation) layers. Personalization is achieved by providing an additional-metal groundplane above the memory cell if the binary digit "0" is desired, whereas no additional groundplane is provided if a binary "1" is desired.
