Abstract

A pulse generator 1 that uses a single interferometer 2 to generate short pulses from a ramped on and ramped off AC supply is shown in Fig. 1. Interferometer 2 consists of two Josephson junctions Q1, Q2, coupled by inductance L and fed asymetrically from AC (repetitive) current source 3. Current source 3 may have a rise time on the order of nanoseconds; it may be bipolar provided there is sufficient dead time to reset pulse generator junctions Q1, Q2. Interferometer 2 is designed to have LIo roughly equal to one flux quantum.
