A multiprocessor system (Fig. 1) consists of several processor (PU), s, some of which may be I/O processors, a common, fast access data local store (DLS), and a common, slow access main store (BSM). These components are interconnected by a common bus B carrying data and control information. All system components operate synchronously, being driven by a common clock.
