Abstract

A tubular workpiece 1O, such as a tube of plastic insulating material, is fed through sleeve guide and cut-off bushing 11 until the leading end engages stop bar 12. The displacement of bar 12 by workpiece 10 about pivot 13 is limited by upper stop screw 14. Air pilot sensor 15 mounted on bracket 16 has a sense element in contact with stop bar 12 which is displaced by movement of stop bar 12, causing an air cylinder 17 mounted on frame 18 to operate, actuating arm 20 of cut-off blade 21. A controlled length of the work piece 10 is cut by the rapid movement of the cut-off blade across the face of cut-off bushing 11.
