Several advantages result from improved vehicles for screening pastes which are made with ethyl hydroxyethyl cellulose (E.H.E.C.). Because this resin is polar, it wets metal powders well. However, because it is compatible with large quantities of low polarity solvents, it does not soften or make unstable green ceramic sheets to which it is applied. In addition, unlike the chemically similar ethyl cellulose, which is a normal resin in such compositions, good shelf life is obtained, even when the paste contains powdered alumina.
