When trying to measure current in a particular load with a constant voltage applied, the power supply sense lead current can lead to a significant measurement error. This is especially true when the sense lead current is greater than or equal to the current being measured. A way to overcome this problem is to measure the sense lead current which would normally flow through the current measurement system (ammeter) and reroute it around the meter, as shown in the above circuit.
