This article describes a spacer technique for display panels. Prior spacer technology utilized glass spacer rods placed on frit dielectric. The designated location for the rods was scribed in the frit. After placement of the rods, the substrate was placed in a reflow furnace, and the spacer rod "sweated" into position. Alternatively, nickel spacer rods were used with a glass coating on one side. The rod was located in position between the conductor lines and heated to the glass coated reflow temperature so that the spacer rod was sweated into position.
