Power Supply Interlock Circuit
Circuit 10 provides an interlock signal 11 whenever an optional power supply
assembly 12 is installed without a corresponding fault-sense card 13, thus
creating a dangerous condition.
Whenever sense card 13 is properly installed in its socket, grounded line 14
holds the base of transistor 21 at its emitter potential. Line 11 then remains open,
whether or not supply 12 is installed. But, if supply 12 is plugged in without a
proper connection of card 13, the positive voltage on line 15 flows through R1
and R3 to turn on Q1, grounding output line 11. R2 and C1 form a low-pass filter
to prevent false triggering of circuit 10. Additional circuits of the same kind may
have their output lines connected together to accommodate multiple supplies and
