A tracker ball is a device which can be used instead of a joystick to move a cursor around a display screen. A user rotates the ball causing movement of the cursor in a direction corresponding to the direction of rotation of the ball. Conventionally, tracker balls have mechanical pick-offs driving shaft encoders through which motion of the tracker ball can be determined.
