SmLuIG Drive Layers for Bubble Domain Devices

In general, SmLuIG and SmYbIG films can be grown to exhibit negative growth anisotropy so that the magnetization of these films lies in the plane of the films. For example, SmLuIG films can be grown on (100) gadolinium gallium garnet (GGG) and samarium gallium garnet (SGG) substrates, and SmYbIG films can be grown on (100) SGG and GGG substrates by liquid phase epitaxy. Selective etching of these films will provide patterns for movement of bubble domains.
