Concept Search - What can I type?
For a concept search, you can enter phrases, sentences, or full paragraphs in English. For example, copy and paste the abstract of a patent application or paragraphs from an article.
Concept search eliminates the need for complex Boolean syntax to inform retrieval. Our Semantic Gist engine uses advanced cognitive semantic analysis to extract the meaning of data. This reduces the chances of missing valuable information, that may result from traditional keyword searching.

Variable Data Input and Display Device
A stand-alone unit 10 is used in conjunction with a hand-held scanner 12 for
generating and visually displaying digital data for entry into a storage unit 14,
which may be on-line to a computer 15.
The unit 10 may be a small, hand-held box or pad 16 containing circuitry and
a battery. It includes a display section 18, an on-off switch 20, a cancel switch 22
and coded magnetic stripes 23 representing the digits 0-9.
The scanner 12 is attached by a cord 24 to the storage unit 14. When it is
desired to enter variable digital data into the storage unit, the scanner is
sequentially swept across magnetic stripes representative of the desired digits.
As each stripe is scanned, the scanned data is entered into the storage unit.
During the sweeping motion, the scanner actuates a microswitch 26 located
under the stripe. Actuation of the switches 26, through circuitry in the pad 16,
causes the corresponding digits to appear sequentially in the display area 18 for
visual verification. The display may be cleared by operating the cancel button 22.
Additional coded stripes 28 and 30 may be provided to cancel data already
entered into the storage unit. For example, stripe 28 may be coded to cause
cancellation of the last digit and stripe 30 may be coded to cause cancellation of
the entire transaction. Through microswitches 26, appropriate cancellation of the
display section 18 may be effected.
