This arrangement provides pilots and control tower personnel with electronic viewing of the runway when human visibility is very poor. The runway can be constructed of precast interlocking slabs. During construction, suitable cables must be laid between the foundation and the slabs the length and width of the planned runway. A pressure indicating device is sandwiched between each pair of foundation and surface slabs and is connected to the adjacent cables. It will be appreciated that each pressure switch results in a different cable combination so that each slab position can be given a computer address. The computer address associated with each slab position can be sent to a tower display for viewing by the tower personnel during low visibility weather.
