The figure shows a stack of magnetic disks 1 disposed on a hub 2. Disks 1 are separated by spacer rings 3, and held in place by means of a deformable clamp ring 4. The outer edge 5 of clamp ring 4 applies a clamping force, indicated by arrow 6, to the top disk 1A which is transmitted to the spacer ring 3A. A load ring 7, having a u-shaped cross section, is attached to the spindle by bolts 8 which are threaded into the hub 2.
