Abstract

A viewport is an area on a display screen in which alphanumeric data may be displayed. A display screen can contain more than one viewport, the contents of each being independent of the others. Thus in Fig. 1, the screen contains two viewports, each containing alphanumeric data. That part of the screen not containing a viewport contains nulls or blanks.
