A method is described which provides a unified solution to two problems: the initialization of random-access memory storage and the initialization of the first-entered procedure. The solution entails the generation of a simple program by the link-editor and thereby relieves the compiler of any additional complexity. An example is given using an 8-bit, multiple-register-set microprocessor (MP) for code generated from a PL/I dialect. I. Initialization of Random-Access Memory -- The Problem.
