A short pulse is often required as the result of a wide pulse on logic systems. (When more than one such function is needed, it is possible to share the pulse-width determining elements between the two or more circuits in order to reduce cost, interconnections and space. The circuit of the figure eliminates shortcomings in prior circuits at the expense of two more logic elements for each input - an AND circuit and a latch.
