Adjacent Cell Wall Charge Normalization

In high resolution gaseous discharge display panels using XY matrix addressing, ionized cells defined by the intersection of orthogonal drive lines disposed on opposite sides of an open chamber affect adjacent off cells by a "spillover" effect of wall charge from the ionized to the nonionized cells. The polarity of the wall charge opposes the write pulse of adjacent cells such that a higher write pulse is required to fire a cell when adjacent cells are lighted. This in turn requires higher voltage selection circuits, and makes writing less reliable.
