The usual way of determining the wave impedance of an electromagnetic field (which is defined as the ratio of the transverse electric and magnetic field components) is to separately measure the electric field component, using an electric field antenna such as a monopole or a dipole, and the magnetic field component, using a magnetic field antenna such as a loop.
