There are applications where it is desirable to use a computer to compare an original line of text with the same line of text obtained from a second source in order to determine errors in the second line. Specifically, in a computer based system used for teaching typing, a line of text is displayed to the student, and the student copies the line. The computer system compares the two lines to determine the errors made in typing.
