In the IBM Technical Disclosure Bulletin 20, 334 (June, 1977), a microprocessor is set forth, where interrupt capability is added by forcing a branch and link instruction. The microprogram was used to enable and disable interrupts. In this instance, apparatus is provided for automatically controlling the interrupt enable by monitoring the subroutine nesting level.
