In a variety of printing machines that use either single or continuous media forms, pressure feed rollers are provided to apply the drive forces necessary to feed the paper form through the mechanism. Typical uses also exist for applying sufficient pressure to create frictional contact between feed rolls and a printer platen, in which case, in order to insert supplies of media to be printed upon, it is necessary to retract the pressure rollers and hold them in an open position to facilitate loading and unloading of the form or threading of a continuous media where that type of material is used. It is most desirable that a simple mechanism exist for applying a predetermined amount of pressure in the engaged or actuated position.
