This article discloses a particularly simple circuit for obtaining bistable flip-flop behavior using a single Josephson device (either a Josephson tunnel junction or quantum interferometer). The circuit requires the use of a Josephson device having an asymmetric control characteristic in which the hysteresis is adjusted to an intermediate value (e.g., 75%) by a proper choice of load resistance (so that Beta=2).
