A liquid chromatograph can be utilized to separate different resins. After these resins have passed through the chromatograph they must be detected. One known technique for detecting different resins which have passed through a liquid chromatograph is to utilize a device for measuring the refractive index. This technique has disadvantages, namely, it is not very sensitive and does not discriminate between species.
