The use of a microprocessor to control channel-to-channel communication is described. The current trend of using the same microprocessor to attach various input/output (I/O) devices to different central processing unit (CPU) channel interfaces offers an opportunity to establish CPU-to-CPU communication with minimal development effort and low product cost.
