Gain Compensation System for Image Scanners

An improved gain compensation system for optical image scanners is shown above. To apply an integration time correction and a gain compensation factor directly to the output video signal from the scanner is not practical, since the video is a high frequency signal requiring high frequency design limitations and being more vulnerable to noise. The present system eliminates these problems by applying the correction signals to the reference voltage of the analog-to-digital (A/D) converter usually found in such systems.
