The audit interface concept offers a flexible technique for interfacing a user to a microprocessor-controlled device. In this case, user refers to a CPU resident control program, a microprocessor resident off-line diagnostic control routine, or a maintenance panel interface routine. This technique provides a method of transferring control and data both ways between the user and the functional microcode. The audit concept is a tool for support of software/hardware systems design, development, debug, validation and maintenance.
