Reference Voltage Generator and Off Chip Driver for Current Switch
The arrangement shown in the drawing comprises a current switch circuit 1
together with an off-chip driver 2 and a voltage generator generating the
reference voltages thereof.
In current switch circuit 1 which comprises a logic circuit, binmary input
signals are fed to terminals IN1 and IN2 connected to the bases of transistors T1
and T2, respectively. An output signal is provided on node A at the collector of
transistor T3, the base of which is connected to a first voltage reference VREF1.
When at least one of the transistors T1 and T2 is made conductive, transistor T3
is off, and when transistors T1 and T2 are OFF, transistor T3 is conductive.
Current source transistor T4, connected to the common emitters of
transistors T1, T2 and T3, has its base connected to a second reference voltage
VREF2. This voltage is equal to the base-to-emitter voltage V(BE) of diode-
connected transistor T5 plus the voltage across the emitter resistor of transistor
The voltage on the collector of transistors T1 and T2 is made equal to 2V(BE)
through voltage regulator 3 comprising transistors T7 to T11.
