Disclosed in Fig. 1 is the design of a multihead ink jet printer 10, including a pair of ink jet printing heads 11 and 12 which are mounted on a conveyor chain, mesh or track 13, the heads being diametrically opposed to one another so that as a line is printed on paper 14 by one of the heads 11 or 12, a second line of printing occurs, after suitable paper index, by the second head. In order to stabilize the heads as they come into position for printing on the paper 14, a bar 15, having tapered ends 16 and 17, helps to force alignment of the head with the plane of the bar. The bar 15 may include keys 18 (Fig. 1a) which cooperate with key ways or the like 19 in the head to help maintain head stability as the heads are carried by the conveyor.
