To prevent the build up of static electrical charges in rotating machinery, for example, a magnetic disk file, a means of discharge is usually provided. In disk files a spindle ground button has been employed which comprises a conductive button mounted on a resilient metal strip which loads the button against one end of the disk file spindle. The high contact forces necessary to hold the button against the spindle have been found to result in a rattling noise when the file is operating.
