Convergence Correction for CRT Displays

Convergence correction of a three-gun cathode ray tube (CRT) is normally achieved by applying analog correction signals to the convergence coils of the tube. These signals are normally generated by active or passive circuits driven by the line and frame time bases of the tube. The correction achieved by this method is adequate for domestic tubes, but is not sufficiently accurate for character display tubes.
