During the diagnostic examination of a printed-circuit board, it is important to verify that the failure which prompted the test was not caused by an open or shorted net. If such verification is ignored, healthy components may be needlessly replaced or damaged by an uncorrected fault. Further, such verification will reduce the probability that a defect might be introduced during repair.
