Abstract

Plasma panel driver modules using resistive pull-up have high and varied output impedance when generating erase signals, leading to large rise-time variations when panel line capacitance varies due to variations in writing and erasing patterns. A partial solution to this problem is to increase the rise time of the erase signals, thereby reducing the change in rise time at the panel line due to capacitive changes. This partial solution produced an erase pulse width that was optimum for a fast rise time, such as 12 volts per microsecond, but a longer pulse width for a slower rise time of 7 volts per microsecond.
