A one-pour foam molding system is implemented using the mold shown in Fig. 1. The rectangular volume defined by the dimensions 3, 4 and 5 determines the bounds of the product to be protected within the carton. The cross-section of the carton fits snugly along the mold edges 6 and 7 while it will be noted that a clearance exists between the mold surface 8 and a confronting carton surface. Mold surfaces 9 and 10 slope away from the intersection with surface 8. Surfaces 11 and 10 partially define a volume of trapezoidal cross-section which communicates with the interior of a surrounding carton through the passage between surface 8 and a confronting carton. A series of carton guides 12 and 13 surround the mold body to confine the carton flap terminal end portions against the mold.
