Electroluminescent durene may be useful in solid-state devices, as a visual RF detector, and/or in semiconductor applications. Durene, either as a single crystal or in a polycrystalline form, will luminesce a bright green color when excited at reduced pressures by an RF source such as a Tesla coil. The brilliant green emission increases as the pressure is reduced. The lifetime of this emission is estimated to be in the order of microseconds.
